Noises of an (Un)Dead Subject
Work by Craig Gingrich-Philbrook
Welcome to PGWS, a site for linking to written, audio, video, and collaborative work in the spirit of the restless, resistant (un)dead subject (see "Polter-what?" for more information). The site is in its infancy, but I have opened it anyway, given my interest in projects evolving publicly as part of a pedagogy encouraging experimentation with aesthetic forms beyond the comfort zone of our familiar abilities. While I have had a small website in a .mac account, I used it mostly as a place where friends could see video, download music/audio I'd made, or read works in progress. While I will continue those functions here as I migrate that material over, I have additional plans for this site.
The primary difference is the addition of a blog--one I'll use to share praxis notes about new programs, plug-ins, etc., that I use in audio/video projects and how this use (with all of the theoretical nuances of that word) indexes shifts in "my" subjectivity. I want the blog to be useful for friends and colleagues either beginning a web-based performance presence or interested in sharing their experiences of how doing so, over time, has changed their sense of performance and and its disciplinary study. If that applies to you and you're interested in doing an interview or sharing your work in some way, contact me.
